Caught a heap of these last week in the Clarence River (northern NSW) near Tabulum in the fresh water.
I have no idea what they are - I have always called them 'herring'.
Max size caught was around the 250mm.
The river was thick with them. Always jumpoing and checking out your lures.
As mentioned in a previous post - Put on an sx40 size lure and you could catch dozens in a session.
