I've been contemplating an evening session on mulloway at West Lakes, so with hot and calm conditions last Friday thought I'd go and suss it out to work out the best area for a full blooded assault when I had more time up my sleeve. Tied on an sx48 and got a hit within 10 metres, which turned out to be a small salmon trout. I caught and released a few of these, which seemed to be hanging around pockets of small bait fish. I also ended up with a couple of smallish bream. I didn't really come away with any great information for a mully session, although I imagine the best line of attack would be to find the bait fish and the mullies might follow?? I thought I might have got some more bream, as this sx48 in whitebait pattern had really turned it on in this area previously. The most luck I had for the night was when a lad dived bombed from a pontoon right on top of the sx48 I was trolling - how on earth he didn't come to the surface with a pair of trebles hanging out of him I don't know. I did speak to one bloke shore fishing who said he'd seen mullies to 100cm come from this very spot......

a nice, hot, still summers night under the pedestrian bridge opposite the legtrap hotel is my choice i reckon. known of a few to come outta there just after dusk. plenty of live bait around, so the bigguns cant be far off, like you said :D
