I could say they're all waiting around for the gay and lesbian mardi gras but it's more likely the Sydney fish are on a suicide protest this year.
Justin Duggans October report is further proof: http://www.sydneyflyfishing.com.au/news ... 3&startat=[startat]&index_no=1
I mean, how stupid do these fish need to be. Our idiot mates, Ian Macdonald and Bob Debus have gone around and turned most of the East Coast of NSW into one giant marine park Sanctuary zone to protect the species and this is the thanks we get.
In a meeting of the species back at Easter time, the Council of Pelagic Encounterment regrouped and decided to converge on Sydney Harbour in a seven month protest against Marine Parks. In doing so, they decided to run the gauntlet and be the target of up to 1 million dedicated anglers. Forget ANZAC Day, soon people will be wearing Legacy badges commemorate the loss of these brave, protesting pelagics.
While the good folk of Northern NSW and Southern QLD have been twiddling thier thumbs waiting for the supposed Tailor runs, salmon runs, bonito runs, kingfish runs and tuna runs, Sydneysiders have paticipated in SLAUGHTERFEST, a new style of fishing that lets you hit the water in a kayak, boat or off the rocks and cast blindly into boiling water and constantly get nailed by solid fish.
Now, It's not that I'm ungrateful for the intermittent and generally smaller fish catches I had in winter and early spring here in Byron, I just think this mass Sydney pelagic fish protest is a futile exercise. Surely more lives would be saved if they changed thier strategy and pursued their protests a little further North on the safe and legal fringes of declared Sanctuary Zones.
