Alex and I arranged to meet at 6.15am on the way to Baroon Pocket Dam. A great morning, no wind and no other boats.
We got set up and paddled off to one of the spots that Alex had marked on his map.
A slow start as we crossed the deeper water. No action at spot No1 except for a couple of small hits on a TT revhead with a Squidgy plastic.
Off to spot No2. A change to a hard body lure saw a nice bass around 30cm landed. From then on we both enjoyed a couple of hours of catch and release.
All together we caught 20 bass. Most in the 28cm-30cm. One went 42cm.
A Viper lure in purple and black, and a Feral Cat in the same colour were the most productive. Alex also ran a Halco in an orange colour.
We were trolling in about 4-6m of water so these lures would have been close to the bottom.
We both tried spinnerbaits without success.
All in all a very good morning.
