Just took the GPS out on the yak, and recorded a top speed of 7.1 kmh
with an average cruise speed of 4kmh, which is the pace I'd normally keep.
There was no wind, the water was a sheet of glass, and there was a slight current in my favour.
And best of all the new ext transducer mount I made worked a treat. Wich is why I was out in the first place.

Any one else recorded their speed in their yak.

On a flat river, I have done 11 km in 2 hrs, which is one of my best times. If I had a GPS, I could probably find how fast I go when on the ocean that wave hits from behind and I find myself surfing for 50 metres.

When calculating trip times, I use 4 km/hr as a standard.

Being of a nautical bent (or is that just bent?) I prefer to work in knots.
Ive had the Outback up to 5 knots but that was flat biscuit.
