G’day guys,

I am a new member and looking at taking up "yacking" as you guys/girls called it. After going to anaconda QLD store, I had a good look around and saw the sea breeze on sale for $400 .

I was wondering to my self if it's a good "yack" for that price for fishing from, I am looking at doing sp' fishing for bream and flatty’s and even maybe take it offshore for snapper to ( mud island) and peel ect.

A few question is the "yack" stable to take offshore, is it a fast "yack" oh to slow to take into the bay.

Any info very much appreciated.

Cheers ando

Welcome to the site Ando

I can't seem to find the sea breeze on the anaconda website, or any info on it on the web, to have a look at it. So I can't comment on it. Just make sure you don't dive in to buying a kayak as there are many different brands around with a lot to offer.

There was a poll done recently in the Main section with how many people have what brand of kayak. There was a list of about 10 of the most popular were there so that may be a good place to start looking and comparing. I researched for about two months before deciding on my kayak. Many many choices out there.

Best of luck finding the right one for you and look forward to reading your reports when you get it.

Ando welcome to the site mate, like most things price often tells a story and think thats the case here with the sea breeze.

Ask for a test paddle before spending your money...on any yak

G day mate, The seabreeze's I've seen are a fair bit smaller than a lot of the yaks guys are using on akff in the main. That's not to say they don't have a place as a a cheapie to get ya out estuary fishing on a calm day etc, but for longer paddles or in more testing conditions ya might be find something else more suitable. Ya might want to see if any of the "Fishing Trips" are near you, and head off to one to see what fella's are getting about in :D

Hey Ando, You blokes would have seen me post a few times on ausfish as Canoedle, I know one of our members here, FishFinder, had a seabreeze a while a go all rigged up, and it looked pretty sweet, so long as you're not too big a bloke for it.

as you see, even rigged up well he was keen to upgrade it only a few months after getting it sorted. ask the staff at anaconda to let you sit in the seabreeze, and then have a look at the scupper and swing that they have in stock. You should be able to lay-by either one if you don't have enough money to buy it now. I really think you would very soon realise the limitations of the little seabreeze.

Yakatak: I have seen you on Ausfish before, aswell as BRC. I checked out that kitted up Sea Breeze and it doesn't look to bad. I wonder when Ando will finally get one though!

hi ando
i must say when i was looking for a yak i look at alot of cheeper ones and almost got one. i went to see milan at pro catch and as he sad i can sell you a yak at the $ you want to spend but if you get into the sport you will be upgrading very soon. he told me to go home and save up some more $ and get some thing that i would be happy with . first i was thinking he just wants to sell me a dearer yak . so my mate and i want elswere my mate got a sea breeze i did not. a few weeks later i went to see milan and got a espri which iam very happy with. a few trips later my mate sold his seabreeze lost $$$ on it and went and got a espri aslo. so be sure the yak will do what you want it for or it will cost you$$$$$$$

Ando,

For estuary type of fishing it would be ok, but for offshore i'd hesitate a little before taking it out, pure and simply because of its size. Do yourself a favour grab a bigger more stable yak so as to not limit where you can fish and ensure its a great experience with very few capsizes if the weather gets a little hairy.

Believe me you will want to upgrade within months if you grab a Sea Breeze, once the yak fishing addiction takes hold!!! For a few hundred dollars more you will be a happier kayaker. :D

Depends on our budget, here are some yaks that look the goods:

Viking tempo fisherman
Perception Swing
Viking Espri
Hobie Mirage sport

There are many others just have a look through the rigged kayak section of the forum and query the owners on the good and bad points about there yak.

I paddle an Espri and managed to pick it up at a bargain price second hand. You'd expect to pay $6-700 scond hand, or about $1000 new. After 2 years of fishing from it it has never rolled over. Its a little slower than a Swing but it will do me for a few more years until i purchase a tempo!!! :D

I haven't paddled any of the above yak, but just going by the look of them I'd suggest the Predator or the Prowler. Ensure you have a test paddle and get an idea as to what kind of fishing your expecting to do and see which one will suit all your purposes. The more deck space the better and the more easily accessible compartments the better and easier fishing will be, particularly if your a bit of a tackle rat like me.
