G'day YakAtak, I really rate the Scupper, paddled a Swing & a few other boats & still prefer the Scupper.

Haven't been game to paddle a Prowler 15 or glance sideways at the Kaskazi Dorado's for fear of HAVING to buy one.

Sounds like a good price. The Scupper is tried & true for fishing mate - sounds like a bargain.

Yes the scupper pro even though a few years old in design is a great boat. Tried and tested. You sit very low in the boat which adds to stability which they have used to enable it to be a very quick yak. Only down side I have heard from them is that you sit in water most of the time with the seat so low. Dry pants should fix this or a good wetsuit.

great yak, carves up on long distances as well. sounds like a good price though

Well.... I went in to Anaconda today, I wasnt going to even go in, but Jill needed help chosing some snorkeling gear. Anyway, I thought I would just go say hello to Angelo the italian manager of the watersports section at Everton Park. Angelo recognised me straight away as we had talked for about half hour last time I was in there looking at kayaks. At that time they only had perception yaks(mostly SIKs and one swing), and a bunch of the cheapy seabreezes and stuff. I mentioned that these yaks didn't offer a lot of range for the kayak fisho and he seemed very keen to hear more, sheesh, he sucked every bit of info out me that I had to give and I left thinking, yeah yeah, another salesman who claims to want to provide for a growing market. I couldnt beleive my eyes when I say the OKs on a rack, 4 colours of scupper pro and all 3 prowler sizes, all looking sexy as. I had to mention how awesome they looked to Angelo and how great a price that was on the scupper. I certainly wasnt planning on putting a kayak on the shopping list, but he explained to me that current stocks will not last and when they are gone, the next shipment will see the price go back to RRP and he wouldnt be able to offer anywhere near the 899 mark. Next came 'the clincher', Angelo says to me "What paddle do you have now?" (We had talked long about paddles last time I was there and he knew I was desperate for a decent paddle) "standard quantum" I says. The hook was set, and I was as good as in the net. "$950 and I will throw in any paddle you like, which one do you like?" shows me their large range, including the perception paddles and I finally decided on 'simply magic' fibreglass paddle in white to match my pale grey scupper pro, a quick swipe of the CC and I'm almost a new DAD! We've started thinking of names already, but we don't want to get too excited just yet. Oh boy, whoops, I havnt even named the Espri yet. hmm, will have to think on that. Anyway, how awesome is that?! Damn, I want it now.

YakAtak, the yak fishing bug is biting deeper, but don't worry. What you are experiencing is simply more of the same that got you into yak fishing in the first place. It is not a new deadly bug so relax. Enjoy your new yak. And get a bigger shed.

I guess she can use it when I'm not, the Espri will still get some fishing time over the next few months at least, until I can pay off the scupper. And then in cooler weather I may still use the espri as it's a very dry ride, unlike the scupper which is a very low/wet ride. I'll be sorting something out to plug up the scuppers, but bound to get a bit of water in the cockpit anyway. Man, this baby is so snug to sit in though, it's like a racing car seat.

Congrats on the new yak Karl :)

What colour did you choose mate?

They have heaps of the Scuppers (I think they had 6 or 7 on the floor) down at Anaconda here on the coast, I have no idea why but the price on the ones down here is $100 dearer at $999.

Maybe its just the Gold Coast store in general? they have $1999 on the Prowler Elite, but the RRP on these boats is only $1750 (quoted direct from the distributor in Aus). So I'm not sure, maybe the calculator they use down here to work out their prices is broken!....

The Scupper sure is a nice looking boat though, I had a good look at them while I was in there checking out the Prowler......very tidy looking boat, and the seating position is very very snug/low to the water. They have a nice layout for fitting it out as well. Plenty of flat accessable areas etc.

She'll be a great little boat mate :)

Little? It's huge!
I opted for the pale grey with black fleck colour, as after reading about shark attacks and 'yum yum colours' wanted to stay away from red, yellows and orange (no, not the town in NSW, last I heard they sorted the shark problem there.)
I asked for a price on the elite up here and they said $2000 with the rudder, so maybe that price down there was the same.

Nice choice.....they looked great in the grey colour.....

My Elite is going to be Red/Yellow

Better get that shark shield sorted out quick smart :)

No idea whey they have priced their Elites at $1999, everyone else seems to have them for $1750 with rudder.

Mine was $1715 with rudder for cash, so really they just knocked the merchant fees off the top.

YakAtak, mate I am sure you will love it. In my opinion they are such a sleek and sexy looking boat. They would have to be the best value poly boat available at present with that pricing.

Catch ya Scott
