Hi all, and as promised herewith report.
Got up nice and early, all going well, stopped at local servo for ice, had a look around inside fridge, and found most of it had melted away..... let the attendant know, having reported the same problem now for a couple of months, still not fixed.....Onto next servo.... lock on door of fridge, would have to find attendant and so on.... gah! moved on to next servo. AhHa, lots of ice in not locked fridge.....door to servo locked didn't have to wait long...got bag of ice.....Finally, could feel my life slipping away from me... seconds dragging into minutes.
Got to Scarborough about 0420...Mission 1. Test new yak cart...Great.
Just about ready to go, when Louise turned up.. and quite soon we were on the water.
Mission 2 test wet mounted transducer...Hmm... ok I guess....probably need to run through the set up routine again, all ground looking solid black, but showed what I needed to see.
After about 15 mins paddle, heard much excitement from behind me, Louise using a Dam Buster (freshwater lure) was onto something, towing her around in the olymp SIK, quite urgently requesting my attendance, I caught up to her, as she landed her first yak fish and first lure fish... and what a ripper, a squire 43cm, hows that for a beginning? Said fish was stowed in my front well, because as you all remember, yes, I did finally get some ice.
Back to paddling, for about 20 mins, and Lou is paddling towards me this time, keen to show me a 30cm bream, just freshly caught. A quick piccy, and she tossed him back to grow some more......over the moon by now.
Finally I got a good hit, and a couple of minutes fight from a squire, that may or may not have been legal size, but certainly smaller than Lou's
gave him the chance to throw the hooks himself, and he bolted back down to the reef.
Conditions were simply perfect for the morning, (apart from algae/scum in the water) whether or not blue/green algae, I dont know.
Next on the scene, fellow workmate Trevor (soon to be corrupted into our fold) turned up on his tinny, had a bit of a troll around and a conference about this and that, and then new member Guru Grant, phoned to say he had arrived at Scarborough. It probably took me the best part of 25 minutes to get back to shore, and then Grant went for a paddle in my tempo. (I think that was his first paddle in a fishing SOT yak) He seemed well pleased. He is still deciding which yak to get. (so many good yaks to choose from)
Well thats about it. Lou might get some internet soon, and join the forum.
Had a fantastic morning, gee its good to be alive (especially when you look at the alternative)
Cheers all Andybear
