Out here in Southern CA, we have a saltwater bass tournament trail. Seven events, each with individual prize $$$. At the end of the year, the tournament directors add up to the weight of your best six events for an overall winner. Next year, this trail will be huge, as sponsorship has been picked up by a big publication... Time to turn in all my pelagic gear for some low profile bait casters....
Some pics and comments from the day at Event #5 Cabrillo, CA...
Rastrev dragging that heavy FnD maybe for one of the last times, I hear he got a deal on something a little quicker...
Caught the sunrise from the east...
Fished a nice pocket of kelp, seems healthy in this region!
Pierpont goes into the boiler rocks looking for big calico...
will b. was right I did hook into some big smelt near Izor's kelp, but these had nothing on Socorro's smelt population.
Steve on the weigh boat... Robert Yak weighing in some fish...
My lunker 1.55 bass from the day...
The launch and landing similar to La Jolla, except you got to wheel your kayak about 30 yrds...
Mike grilling good eats!
Some of the Anglers talking about their day.
I weighed in 9 bass, culled one, in hopes of getting a BIG one, that never happened. But it was fun to catch fish all morning, and feel like I had a chance. Good seeing everyone, see you all in Newport!
