Hi Guys,

I've been stocking up on camping and fishing gear lately (in the hope that I might one day make it out!).

I happen to know that Ray's Outdoors are having a series of sales, running from store to store, where everything, in the store is 26% off.

This weekend is Preston, and 2 stores in Maribyrnong that I know of. Not sure if this is Australia-wide or just Vic.

Happy shopping!

Thanks for wording us up Chilli - I scored at the Rays on Elizabeth St a month or so ago, Daiwa Procasters (normally retail for approx $100) were $75 at Rays, a scanning error brought them up at $62 at the checkout, minus the 26% saw me buy three at $45 each :D :D

If any Melb based yakkers are chasing a Swing, I dropped in after work today and with discount you could pick one up for $1599 less 26.5% which makes it around $1200. The one I saw was fitted with seat pad, 2 large hatches, 1 small centre hatch, backrest, 3 rod holders and bungee in tankwell. I wasn't too impressed with quality of fit out though...but maybe I mark hard. I'm also not sure if a paddle was part of the deal. The offer is advertised as ending tommorrow...other Melb Rays may have similar offers coming up. I wonder if a few of the big retailers, yak companies, and fishing stores are dropping by akff to see what being discussed at the consumers end of the market  :D

I can't use bait caster reels. I got a cheapy from K Mart and it either overruns and makes a birdsnest, or is so tight you really have to swing the rod to cast, usually losing the bait.

Maybe a better quality reel would help, but I'm quite happy to keep using egg beaters.

I'm bait-cast challenged.

I'm off to Rays tomorrow to spend up, I think I'll pick up a 4000 size reel for my Ian Miller Graphite Shimano rod (love that rod).
