Hi Jay,

I asked this very same question on the Black Diamond web site and you will find some answers there. I will PM you a link.

I have a BD Clear cut with the short butt, and I use a Scottys flush mount on my Hobie yak. It's not ideal for the BD rod, but does the job, and will try one of the other types recommended when I get a chance.

Jay, the scotty or similar rod holders that are adjustable and sit off the deck may work better than a flush mount. The problem with flushmounts could be the rod does not sit down far enough and the reel would be sitting on the deck and depending on the rod you may only have 50mm or so of butt to sit in the holder. I could be wrong  but would be interested on the out come.

I've got the same question, as my custom Ian Miller is a 'one handed' number, and currently sits precariously in the top of a ram tube. Does anyone use the RAM fly rod holder on short butts?
Cheers,
Greg

I am working on a prototype rod holder for the short butt BDs, which will (hopefully) allow me to store them more securely in upright rod holders eg. on my storage crate. I'll keep y'all posted. I find that for trolling the cheapo Berkley swivelling jobs are alright for these rods.
