This morning at about 8:30 Shane and I launched our yaks in the lakes at the end of Boowaggan Rd near the dog training area, we paddled about 400 meters to Mudgeeraba Ck where the bridge is being upgraded, and the GCCC had erected a floating pipe accross the creek to stop admittance, after some discussion I asked one of the construction workers if we could fish in the creek, he replied that if we could get over the pipe it was ok with him. this was our 1st problem of the day how to get over the pipe. :? :?
It ended up that the constuction guys were really helpful and helped manhandle the yaks into the creek.
Once in the creek the area turned out to be a pristine nature area with tons of bird and animal life, the fishfinder showed the area was alive with fish.
I tried using the Carolina rig with a 4" Turtle back worm, without much success, Shane was using a deep diving hardbody, but in both cases the weed was a pain in the arse. Eventually we ended up in an area with a depth of about 4meters and I changed to an Ecogear VT55sp in an olive green, and within 30 meters I had my 1st fish a bass. Shane had by this time succumbed to the serenity and was taking photos. We had a break for a while and decided to head home (against the wind) pretty soon I had my 2nd bass and the nothing more for the rest of the day.
When I got home Dodge came over to pick up his fishfinder head unit, and when I told him that I caught two bass, he congratulated me and then told me I was a prick (Don't know why  )
Anyway it was a great morning and the company was great.
Must do more of it
