Quiet day at the office, again  , so I did what any self respecting aussie bloke would do! that's right, I went to the pub. One of the locals, actually the bloke I've chatted with before who tows his canoe to the lake on the back of his pushbike.
So Paul and I started chatting about fishing the point (seems getting a bass up there has got me some respect) and after telling him where I got my bass, he tells me that this is a great spot, and he has caught some huge yellas there. then Paul says "You know where is a good spot" haha he gave me the good oil on a nice drop off that goes from a few inches of water down to 20feet, and it's less than 50m from the launch point!
OK, with this info on board, I was dead keen to get back down there.
Weather was near perfect, 30% cloud cover, light breeze, hmm, make that stiff breeze. Got to the water and thought it looked a bit choppy, oh yeah, very choppy. It seems the breeze funnels down the valley along the water way and meets right at the 'ramp' creating some nasty 'cross chop'.
Anyway, I didn't plan on being there long, it was already after 4pm, so launched the yak, and promptly got carried off by the wind, cast out my lures and started paddling towards the drop off.
Yak passed the drop, bang, I'm on, well that was easy. In came a small catfish. By the time I sorted out the fish and wound in my other lure I was 100m up the inlet up against the bank. Hmm, better have another go at this.
Out with the lures, paddled off again, past the drop, bang, hooked up solid on the jackall, and new straight away this wasnt a catfish. Up came a nice looking yella, sorted im out and in the bag. I kept eyeing off the pump station, but just couldnt get past that drop off, each time I went past I hooked another catfish.
In the end, 1 yella and 7 forkys, and all less than 50m from the ramp! Awesome stuff.
