I have 3 different Cameras that I use and when it comes to editing I like to keep my original Raw videos for safe keeping even though they are broken down into files of 15min or 30min, means that over time a lot of Hard drive memory is used up unnecessarily.
So now before I use my main editing software (Nero Vision) I edit out all the no action periods with a free Raw Video Editor.
I have been using Free Video Dub, it is a very basic editor so you can only cut out bits you don't want and save it onto your hard drive in the original format it was filmed in.
Just make sure your edited video is how you want it before you delete the original file.
