For xmas I'm getting my first SOT.... just don't know which one? I am hoping to test both Prowler13 and Perception Swing - they seem to feet my needs best. I'd love some advice/opinions?....
I will be using it mostly in Southern half of Moreton Bay - ranging from smooth water (south of Coochiemudlo Is) to pretty choppy almost open-water (North of Coochie). Maybe occasional lake/river.
1. Given that, it looks from in-shop inspection that the perception, with the flatter hull underneath, and no rudder may not be as good for this area as Prowler? Is this the case for those that have paddled both?
2. The perception looks like a more comfortable seat? Any comments?
3. Should I consider the Prowler Elite... (6' and 100kgs)? How easy are these to on and off roof racks?

Thanks guys, really appreciate any help.
Also, any 2nd hand options, I'd love to hear about... not many of these come up.

Adrian either of the yaks mentioned will handle that body of water with no concerns.

I find the swing without a rudder is no problem at all in practice.

If you get down the coast you are welcome to a test paddle on my boat, all you have to do is PM and work out a mutual time and place. See Dodge Swing in rigged kayaks

Gday AdrianK,
What the guys said is great advice they are both great yaks.
If you check out the rigged yaks section you can see how the guys set both yaks up, and if you read the trip reports you will see where they take them.
Thats what i did plus asking the same thing on here and ended up with the prowler 13, but from what i've read the swing is ever bit as good.

Cheers dave
