I think an Espri is about $900 inc paddle, and a seat about $100.

So you are paying roughly $200 for the bits and pieces and would have to decide if the value is there in the extras, when as a fisherman you already have a fair amount already.

For me I would prefer a paddle upgrade as my first pick, and weigh up if you want to pay the adjusted price for extras.

Don't know Prowler prices so can't offer an opinion mate

Heya Magicrik,

Price on the Prowler Elite sounds about right mate.

I contacted the distributor a few weeks ago and was quoted $1750 with rudder, but was told to expect a price rise in a months time.

Re the Prowler Elite: I was quoted $1749 including paddle and seat. Have no idea what the quality of the paddle or seat is as this was an email quote from the dealer. However, no demo paddle allowed so I have decided against it.

Anyone know of a good mail order place for the elites? Prices for kayaks seem expensive up here (wasm quoted $1500 for a swing, standard paddle, one hatch, nothing else), so would like to check out some other options to buying local.

G'day Rick,

My two cents worth mate.

I know nothing about the prowler elite but it looks a fine boat to me. price doesn't seem too bad either.

Re the Espri, Lots of blokes here love em.

I had a look at those Quantum paddles the other day and while I have never used one. - I don't like them at all. they just don't 'feel' right to me and those scooped blades must flutter under load. The people at Viking are going to start making more conventional blades again very soon. That should say it all. I thinK those paddles are worth less than nothing.

If you can get a Espri for $900 and outfit it yourself, I reckon it would be a better option. Spend the $200 saved on a proper paddle - you won't regret it.
