Hi all, just got a kayak approx a week ago and am a keen fisher but have never fished from kayak before but i am sure i will love it. Im situated about 100m away from mentone beach so that was where i am going to do most of my kayak fishing from. Ive noticed over my years living here that there is a salmon school about 50-60m out from mentone beach so i was going to try my luck trolling up and down the beach approc 100 m out. I am wondering what you think would be the best type of lure for the job and what else apart from salmon i am likely to run into around here.
This is a great website and i am sure i willbe reporting back about what i catch.

Can't help with the local fishing, but my grandparents lived in Marina Rd so I spent a lot of time as a kid on that beach. Good luck with the fishing

Welcome RJMAC, a lot of us fish the mentone-beaumaris stretch from yaks, the trolling brigade favour bibbed minnows that dive to about 2-3m for pinkies, salmon and pike. Some of the more dedicated lure draggers like Poddy would be better to advise you on exact lure lure choice
