For those of you buying pool noodle for putting over bars/roof racks etc my dad managed to find the best stuff. He went into a plumbing supply store looking for the refridgerator coolant foam (read as Pool noodle with the whole already cut out and a slit made in it so it can be slid over the pipes to insulate them) for MY kayak :D Thanks Dads everywhere!! Anyway one of the ladies suggested that he might want to have a look at this product called Zip. It is pool noodle with a whole in the middle and a slit as he described however it has this plastic edge each side of the slit witch allows it to be zipped closed like a glad or zip lock bag. He grabbed a 2m length in the appropriate size for about $2.80 trade. They go all the way down to 25mm hole size (diameter of whole not length of piece!! ).

For kayak trollies, roof racks or anywhere where you need a split pool noodle it would be the ducks nuts and best of all it comes pre cut too in hopefully exactly the right diameter. I'll take a photo and post it tomorrow.

Chris I have to throw a dampener on your views mate...sorry.

I used that on roof racks up here to protect beach rods [pre kayak] and found although designed for pipes it had no life in the sunlight and deteriorated fairly quickly.

Noodles are only $3 up here at Crazy Clarks or KMart, in solid or hollow

Hi Guys,
I can only assume it's the same stuff as the pipe lagging we use over here to keep the heat in the pipe......it'll do the job, but be prepared to change it regulary 'cause as Dodge has said, it don't like sunlight or take wear and tear well.

Dave
