A mate and I headed out around sunset from Deep Water Bend. Trolled lures up to the wreck after the bridge then flicked placcies and baits. Made our way over the course of the evening up to the paper mill and then back. Got a couple of catties and that's it.

I'm amazed with the huge holes and structures I found with the sounder that the river was so devoid of fish. One example was middle of the river, 5 metres deep, dropped into a 10.5 metre deep hole. Another was a near vertical, 3 metre drop-off near a rock wall. And nothing, really disappointing.

That's pretty wierd, I usually put my poor results in that area down to too much skier action. Only ever had one decent session up there at a time when flatties were in almost plague proportions. Better luck next time.
