I took my dad out in the tinny on the Logan River chasing mudcrabs yesterday seeing as its meant to blow 25kts all weekend. On the way out we saw a fella in a Hobie fishing the shallows chasing flatties id imagine. We buzzed passed him giving him plenty of room and continued on to drop our pots and flick some lures around for a couple of hours.

On the run home I saw the guy in the Hobie once again and thought id slow down and get close enough to say gday and see if it was anyone from the forum. When we got close enough I could see him pulling at something between his legs  , when I spotted a small outboard motor. It was a fair size, im guessing around 6hp and it looked as though he had it set up about mid way down the yak towards his feet. Just as I was about to kill my motor and call out a greeting, his outboard fired up and he started to motor away. Unfortunatly I didnt have a camera on board, but hopefully he visits here and can put a photo up of his craft.

Hobie have taken their love of hands free fishing too far  .

Got no keepers for the trip either.

I can guarantee that petrol power is not a factory option on Hobie kayaks. No one would ditch the drive to put a motor in, not even an electric! Maybe the guy came across a Mirage hull minus the pedal drive and decided to use what he already had?
I have had a couple of reports of stolen hulls. Maybe thats why he took off in a hurry?
