Greeting all,

I am still currently a landbased fisherman and I'm keen to get onto the water without the costs of a "stink boat". I have seen alot of information on the antics of Billy Bob on the fishing Noosa website and decided I need a Yak. 8)

I am heading up to noosa in Feb 2007 (I know it's A LONG time away) and am seriously thinking of the Perception swing fitted out for the estuaries. I would like to mainly fish the estuaries and then at a later stage go off shore.

I would just like some opinions on the swing and how people rate it.
Hopefully by then I will have the money for a yak. Also It would be great fun and exercise.

Welcome Craig.

There are a lot of happy swing owners out there. You can't go too far wrong in joining them. There are also a lot of other good yaks around. Try a few if you can.

Welcome Craig

I'm happy with my Swing and if you are ever coming down to the GC send a PM and you are welcome to trial either of my yaks on the water

G'day Craig.

I've got a couple of demo Swings here so you're welcome to take one for a test paddle any time.

Just drop me a line or give a buzz. Contact details are on the website.

Thanks very much fellas

I think that I will try a few differnt yaks before I buy anything.
I am still rather short on money for a yak at the moment  but I am egar to get one. Thanks for the offers for the tests runs, I will get around to it when I have some more time. Could people also please suggest any yaks that may suit my purpose.

Until then happy fishing and yaking.

Hi Craig, I used to own one of Bill's Swing Anglers. I say "used to" because I got into a panic before I moved to France - and ended up selling it along with everything else we owned (house, cars etc). It is a great kayak - and I was sorry I sold it in such a hurry (I could easily have brought it here).

Bill also gave me a huge amount of support, helping me get started in the sport - helping me select tackle (with discount), getting me started on the water, passing on a wealth of knowledge and experience etc. This was almost worth as much to me as the kayak itself.

Hi Dogfish

what are the pros & cons of the Elite over the Swing. That's not to say I'm in the market for a new yak at the moment. :)

Thanks
Grant
Hi Grant,
I find the Elite is a faster, dryer ride than the Swing and has a greater load capacity. It is narrower in width and easy to paddle without lacking in stability.
The Swing is a good kayak that can be turned into a fishing yak. The Elite is already a great fishing yak straight off the shelf.

One other difference between the elite and the swing is well placement. On the swing its slightly further back and a little big more of a reach (not an issue if your flexiable, whilst the elite has its well directly behind the seat.
The elite also has inserts which enables slight easy attachment of accessories. Its longer as dogfish says and is little bit dryer. If your just purchasing on price however I don't think the swing really needs a rudder but the extra lengh means the elite benefits from a rudder, whic add's 300 smackers more.
When pricing them up make sure you get the price with accessories included as the elite price comes with paddle holders, rod holders, seat, plus a few extra bits. Don;t know what is standard on the swing but just check it all out

If you have the coin I'd go for the elite, however if not the swing isn't a bad call either.
