Well finally a trip worth posting,
I had a blast out thier the bream and bull sharks never appeared, but the flathead head were there.
Caught 6 flathead all up the first was 40cm (my pb from a yak and first keeper from a yak) all of 50m after i launched, All the rest were around the 30 to 36 mark so got a repreive for another day.
SX-40 - 5 flathead
Squigy Wriggler 90mm golden - 1 flathead
Squigy fish 75mm golden - 0
Saw a couple of large stingray's around 1m across go under the yak. The back end of the creek just before it opens up was full of mullet. Might take a hand spear next time. Only six inchs of water too..
The tide forcast for high was 10.51 plus 8mins for little patonga, well not in the creek I got of the water around 1 and it was still running in. This made for a bit of a push back income tide and 15knt head wind all the way back. It was a good test of my yak fitness and pleased to say came through fighting fit.
I paddled out into the mouth of the hawksberry, about a half meter wind wave that was just breaking at the mouth of the creek. Broached a little on the way back in but pulled it back and didn't flip( very happy for first time in sort of surf).
I can see the creek becoming a regular paddle spot for me.
Oh yeah the back end did look very bull sharky, once it opens up there's deep murky water, oyster leases and lots of mullet. But the good fish seem to be near the entrance in about 600mm of water or less
You launch in the camp ground very easy access nice bit of sand to launch from, great for a weekend with the family too.
Cheers Dave
