Ive been looking on the net and i cant find any vids of people paddling to show me the right way to do it. Ive seen the post on the paddling tech but i need to see it in action if you know what i mean...I found this link but the clips are only 1 or 2 seconds long like that helps
So if anyone knows where i can get some video clips i would much appreciate it.

best bet is to get out and give it a go to see what works best for you. everyone develops their own 'style' (or lack of) in time.

for distance paddling, just remember to make your torso do most of the work (not your arms). Sit up straight, reach out and maintain the bend (approx 90 degree-110 degree) in your arms throughout the stroke. try to avoid straightening and then bending your arms during the stroke. the upper torso should pivot through the stroke. Otherwise by using mainly arms you'll be buggered in no time.

When fishing, changing direction etc using the arm stroke is OK but your arms will soon fatigue if using this style over long distances (unless you are Popeye after a dozen cans of spinach) 8)

Rik

When starting I read, or was told, to imagine a big beachball between the paddle and your chest, and hands shoulder width apart, and as you twist on any part of the stroke the ball shouldn't drop out from that position.

Davey also mentions developing your own style and this is true, I personally use the 'bastardized mish mash' tecnique which is OK, but the good paddlers are doing as the article at this sections top, with stroke range of foot to hip

I know less about computers than I do about geophysical forces of moon dust. I don't know - I wanted to use it as an avatar but it wouldn't load - but it sits there ok??? I thought it quite amusing when I saw it!
