Anybody know much about Paddle Day in Warrawong in the illawarra? I saw an ad for it on tv the other day while i was at south coast. All it said was you can test out kayak's and have a chance to win a Hobie yak.
Anybody ever gone to these paddle days?
Not sure about the date but i think it's the 14th of October.

Hey Vuki,

Yeah i saw the ad the other day too. Im not certain but i think its just a one off thing. Outdoors First, a camping and outdoor gear store on King St Warrawong has just recently starting stocking the Hobie Kayak range and i think the paddle day is a promotion to let everyone know they are now selling Hobie Kayaks. I would guess the testing would be in Lake Illawarra just opposite the store.

Cheers

Hi Vuki,

I am a new member and have not as yet secured a yak.

I agree with Fishbone that the paddle day is part of a promo by Outdoors First at Warrawong. I will personally be heading down on the 14th as I am keen to try out the Adventure that everyone is raving about.

I am still in the process of getting an overview of yaks that would suit my purpose. I'm keen to do some inshore reef work off Wollongong and/or Jervis Bay.

In terms of yaks that I think would suit me (based on all the good advice on the AKFF forum) I've narrowed down yaks to two:- the Hobie Adventure & Perception Swing.

Welcome Michael,

Good luck with the search and look forward to your reports.

If you guys in the Gong post some good trip reports you might get a few of the Sydney crew joining you one day.

Hi Guys,

I heard about the paddle day as well. I went into the store about 6 weeks ago, they have just starting stocking the Hobie kayaks & have all the accessories, they also have a few Vikings and various other brands at the back of the shop.

For the Wollongong guys, there's an outdoor place in Stewart Street Wollongong that has a few kayaks for fishing setup & accessories. I have found them pretty helpful.

For anyone further south looking for a kayak, try to get to Jervis Bay kayaks at Vincentia. They are a specialist kayak shop & the owner is really knowledgeable & helpful.

Cheers
