I am about to install a Cuda 168 fish finder onto my P13. Interested in any advice on the best mounting point or position. I have purchased a Ram mount which I was intending to set inside the forward drink holder. I would run the transducer cables through the wall of the drink well.

Although the theory sounds fine my concern was the water could sit inside the drink well and I would have to make double sure about sealing any holes.

Anyone got any experience with this?

Providing you make your cable penetrations into the hull at a height greater than the drainage lip of the cupholder and are generous with the sealant, then there should be no problems I can forsee.

Hi I mounted mine in the cup holder, with the hole above the base, I mounted the sounder on a piece of EVA foam to raise the height the cables are brought through the hull the cables pass through a bung which was drilled in the centre this provides a relatively water tight seal and allows me to put a plain bung in if I dont want the sounder in or I am going throught the surf. I carved/melted a thin line around the bung with a hot knife so the bung doesnt pop out if the hull is compressed. I have tried to resize my pics but to no avail so if you contact me I will pm them to you. Got it.

Thanks for that. It looks like the go. The RAM mount should aleviate the need for EVA foam to raise it up. Its good to know I am on the right track. Just need to make the time to actually do it now.
