Hi Guys
Just joined up and just purchased a Prowler 13 on Monday. I have been fishing out of a Loon 111 but decided to upgrade. Read AKFF with interest as to which yak to choose and in the finish narrowed it to the Swing and the Prowler.

Put it in the Hunter at Singleton on my way home to Muswellbrook but didn't connect up to a bass. My mate did in his new Viking Fisherman.

I mainly flyfish for bass and bream, tying nearly all my flies. Fish the dams in the Hunter and saltwater around Central Coast and find flyfishing from a yak a buzz, particularly when bass are 40+.

Looking forward to my time at AKFF and would love to fish with some of you that are in my area.

Unfortunately, due to the change in ownership of this web site and the lack of response by the owners to my requests to remove my email address from all administrative-level notifications and functionality, I have decided to remove my posts on AKFF. Thank you for the great times, the fantastic learning experiences and the many many fish. If you are desperate for the old content of this particular post, it is available below base64 encoded and bzip2 compressed.

Thanks all for your words of welcome and I hope to be able to keep you up to date with Glenbawn and St Clair bass happenings.

I am a member of Singleton Fly Fishing Club and we are today releasing about 10,000 bass fingerlings into St Clair. We are the only club stocking lakes with bass in the Hunter.

Redphoenix asked do you need to modify technique fromyak as distinct from shore and answer is yes. When fisging from yak we try to land fly as close to bank as possible and leave fly without moving until ripples cease and then start fly back with short strips. once moved a metre or so without result lift fly from water and move it along bank a metre and try again. Often when hit you miss hookup so lift fly and bring straight back over fish. He will quite often not take until 3rd or 4th cast in same place.
Ironically when fishing the bank we try to cast to the next postcode!

Thanks again fellas :D

I broke my duck with a bream in Newcastle Harbour early this morning and don't think it will be too long before a bass comes on board.

Justcruisin32 I also venture to the central coast (my son and daughter live there). I fish around Davistown but would like to fish a couple of the creeks around there.

Occy, a bass weekend get together sounds a good idea. there would be a number of options but probably St Clair followed by Glenbawn and Clarence Town would be the pecking order.Clarence Town is probably the most productive of the three but the bass tend to be on the smaller side. Have hardly missed out there but have had many fishless trips to Glenbawn and St Clair, particularly with fly  .

The best time for really large bass at St Clair in particular is July through to October when the bass can be found in the shallows looking for warmer water. Weed beds seem to be their favorite haunt and any windows in the weed deserve serious consideration. It is also around this time that the maga bass are around. My PB on fly is 48cm (from shore)however some of my clubmates have caught up to 55cm (fork). :D :D

C Town has an excellent camping area and if you are happy with just catching bass would be the pick

How do I go about contacting Angles and excuse my ignorance but what is a PM?

Occy my yak is a Prowler 13 Canary yellow.

Getting together for a bass weekend sounds a good idea. If you are after big bass the months of July through to October are good for St Clair and Glenbawn. They come into the shallows in the cover of weed looking for warmer water. You look for windows in the weed and cast in. You need to get to the bottom but generally it is not deep. Fly gear excels as you can let it sink, then sharp stripsand let settle back on bottom. Repeat. Have not done it from a yak but could be interesting as it is at this time that some really big fish are caught (and released!)

Other than that Clarence Town is a good option with an excellent camping ground on the river. Fish are somewhat smaller but you rarely leave there without a hookup. I fisg this area on surface fly and it is a buzz to see a fish take on the surface. Fish are generally around 30 cm but I have a 42 cm from here so there are some decent size around.

Peril, what is a pm and yes I will contact Angles. How do I go about it.

Read with interest of proposed trip to Batemans Bay. It co incides with a trip I am taking to Eucumbene and am looking at Making the Bay weekend and travelling to Eucembene on the Sunday. Would make a good week of fishing. Gives me a chance to meet a lot of you guys

Mate PM stands for private message

Across the top of the index you will see FAQ, and further along PMs.

Suggest you click on FAQ and find the section on private messages and read about them, then when ready to have ago, click on the PMs and go from there clicking new post button

Put the username address where shown, enter a subject, then fill out the message box as in posting etc

When the addressed member comes online they will get the PM, send a test to me if you wish or anyone else
