Well, work sees me currently on the Sunshine Coast and I had a spare few hours today so of course I decided to find the local boat hire shop at Noosa and rent myself a yak for a few hours.
I'd come prepared with a rod, reel and a small selection of lures, jigheads and sp's which I put into a bumbag. A bottle of water, some food and I was off to check out the area.
The wind was up but the Noosa river has quite a few protected spots. I also found out that the outgoing tide will sweep you out the heads if you're not careful...the tide was ripping out through the channel very quickly and at one stage I was swept a couple of hundred metres when I was looking down unhooking a fish. Need to be more careful in fast water!.
Anyway trolled around with the rod stuck in a front scupper and caught a couple of flatties around 25cm. PAddled into a more sheltered spot amongst the mega million dollar mansions where I flicked soft plastics under pontoons for a few small bream and one that busted me up big time!
I had 3 hours on the water and enjoyed the afternoon. Would love to have more time to find a few more 'quiet' spots as the stretch of water I was on was very busy, even on a Tuesday arvo.
