4.30am start saw me meet a mate going through Singleton and on to Newcastle. We intended to fish near Stockton Bridge after flattie however nwind a little keen so took softer option and headed to Newcastle Harbour area and launched yaks.
We headed to the wharf area where the wind was still a nuisance pushing the yaks into the wharf. The tide was full otherwise we may have been able to utilise it and go under the wharf.
AnywayI hooked up on a solid bream only to lose him at the side. New Yak still a virgin. Several minutes later managed to hook up again and made no mistakes this time bringing a 27cm bream on board  . Will eat in the morning. I was using chicken fillet breast cubes coated in parmesan cheese which the bream seem to like but get off the hook rather easily. I forgot to dip them in olive oil which sets up a nice burley trail. Don't know what elst it attracts but hopefully not nasties!
We fished for another couple of hours, lost bait but no more fish. Tried plastics for first time and hopefully will get the hang of them. thoroughly enjoyed the paddle and was more than happy with the prowler.
Now to catch some bass on the fly.
