Hey Folks,

I saw Hairy Mick on the AKFF sight at work and though DANG this is the sight for me. I don't have a Yak ...... yet, but after seeing some of the rigs on the sight I am sure as heck gonna get one, if the minister for war and finance allows me.

At the moment I go fishing in my 16.5 meter canadian scanoe mainly for Bass and Perch since I moved down to Maryborough from Atherton. I have done well around the Gympie area for Bass my best being a 46cm caught on 5cm popper tied to a 4 kilo line. The fight it put up lasted for about ten minutes and at some points it made me jam but I eventually got it in the canoe and released it again.

Anyhow I look forward to hearing from any keen fishermen especially if you are heading up to North Queensland. I know a few spots up that way. so drop us a line.

Thanks for the warm welcome folks, as for your question Yaker as to why Mick and I were on the computer at work well...... research sounds good ......I think we could run with that. No in all honesty we were looking at his latest yak on this sight and then he actually made a canoe in the wood shop at work, it only took him a day to get the hull together.

As for your question YakAtak as to where I go fishing around Gympie I go around the Six Mile (but you have to walk that) the Mary is also good for a few large Bass and Yabba (at Imble) is also great for a few good Bass, not as big as the ones' in the Mary but more of them.

That's great, we used to fish the mary when I was a kid, in a few locations, but mainly only caught catfish, and hooked the ocasional lung fish, man those things pull hard. Anyway, good to hear there's a few quality bass running free in the system. I might have to get up that way and put the yak in some time.
