Good on ya Billybob, I always love reading ya articles. It was while I was researching yaks on the Internet that I first came across yak fishing on your website and it started me on the journey down, I mean, up into a great new sport.

Billy Bob what a great article. :)
I am having problems with rentry. :x :x
How does Alex manage it? Every time I try to get from my belly and turn around I tip back into the water.
As usual with this forum someone has overcome the problem, its so inspiring.

G'day Ian.
I go into shore ahead of Alex, drag my yak up the beach, get his crutches from the back of his ute and place them just beyond the high water mark.
I then go about knee deep into the water and wave that I'm ready.
Alex then makes the call re. the wave/gap he goes for and I grab the bow rope of the yak as he comes in and run as far up the beach as I can with the yak to get him out of the surf line.
He then rolls out of the yak onto his knees in the shallow water, leaving me clear to drag the yak up onto the dry sand then come back down to him with his crutches.
As you can imagine, we're on Main Beach Noosa while all this is going on, so while I'm getting both our yaks up to the car park than stripping and cleaning them, Alex is still down on the beach holding court with up to a dozen locals and/or tourists who all want to know about his yak fishing exploits.
Ah well, such is life in the shadow of a celebrity!

Sorry Ian. Mis-read your question.

Sounds like you need to have your upper body further across the body of the kayak before doing 'the pivot and flop' into the cockpit.

You also need, perhaps, to put more weight on your right arm (far side) as you come out of the water.

Sunhobie: I basically plan to 'be there'.
