G,day All,

After several disappointing trips in Pittwater I decided to head to Narrabeen Lakes in pursuit of flathead.

Launched from Jamieson park at 7am and headed around Pipeclay Point to a small bay near the War Veterans Home which is one of my favourite flathead haunts. As I approached I could see alot of weed on the surface near the shore and quickly found the whole bay was full of it, encassing the lures and baits as soon as they were in the water.

Decided to head back past the launch point and drift the channel between Wimbledon Ave Reserve and the island with prawns and was rewarded with a 45cm flathead pictured below. :D Continued to bait fish and throw around 3" grubs getting plenty of bites but none landed.

Moved up to the bridge where Pittwater Rd crosses the lake and drifted the southern side for one more flathead, this one 38cm, two small whiting and a small bream.

Slowly made my way back to the launch site, drifting and throwing around the SP's as I went but no more fish were landed.

Was off the water at Noon, all in all, was a good trip with great sunny weather and not much wind.

Good report Hawkey,

Haven't often thought about Narrabeen Lakes but now I have the Yak I think I might give it a go sometime. I also heard that they just opened it again which might make for some good beach fishing too

What parts of Pittwater have you had no luck with, I've fished it a few times in the past few weeks with varying amounts of success

Onemorecast,

Yeah apparantly the Lakes has been opened, I haven't seen it, but you are right, it should make for some pretty good beach fishing.

In Pittwater launching from Bayview Park and fishing around the marina up to Salt Pan Point, Church Point and back. Only caught very small snapper and bream. A local I spoke to down there said were I was fishing was ok but he then said he thought Pittwater was a bit of a disappointment, which surprised me.

Also fished both sides of McCarrs Creek, best spot seemed to be a marina(don't know the name) which had snapper to about 25cm.

The other spot I tried was launching from Sandy Beach and fishing the edge of the main channel but only very small snapper.

Hawkey,

I did ok around Scotland Island recently getting some Tailor, Flounder and squid. I've fished it in the stink boat a few times too, usually get a flattie or 2 but have picked up good bream, flounder and there are kings around Scotland I too. Was out on Sunday in the stinkboat and had them chasing a few lures up to the boat but they just wouln't take them :x
