Hey Folks,

I've been looking for some recent fish reports from Narrabeen since it was opened to the ocean, and can't find any. Does anyone know if the fishing there has improved since the levels have dropped? I heard it was pretty bad as the levels went up.

Thanks,
Robbie

Haven't been there for nearly a year. I used to fish the back land-based, but with the build up of fresh there was a build up of a fine weed that covered everything and made anything other than surface lures or bait impossible to use. No idea how long it will take to recover or if it changed since then. I expect that it would be different in the channel near the caravan park, although I've found the clear water there to be difficult.

If you're going to test your sail, I expect you will be in the main body of the lake. I'd suggest you try casting small surface lures over the weedbeds (the normal weed that is). No idea how they're biting now, but I used to pickup bream reliably casting sps around the weedbeds on the western side of pipeclay point. A few lizards too, but the water is so cold now you'll have to step on them to wake them up.

Thanks for that Dave,

I'll give it a go. I figure Narrabeen is a safer place to test the sail than most, but it'd be rude not to have a fish while I'm there. If only the bloody rudder had arrived on time I'd feel better about sailing somewhere I'm less familiar with. Oh well, downwind, and a paddle back. We'll see how it goes.

Thanks again,
Robbie
