Paul a good read mate, and good to see you catching up with other akffers.

Whats the average depth of the lake these days?

Looking at the crowd in the pics certainly makes mid week paddling a godsend when those areas would be pretty empty of people.

Hope you cheered and enjoyed the Broncos win last night:wink:

Good report Occy. You sure those trevs weren't choppers. Lake always seems to be full of them. First fish on board Peril was a chopper caught by Reece on the Lake.

I think you're right re the depth. My favourite fishing spot in the lake is some ribbon weedbeds towards the back of it. Used to get bream and flathead regularly, though nothing special sizewise. Also launching at the Middle Creek carpark at the back of the lake is a lot less busy than the front part.

Deep creek is deeper than much of the lake. The only thing you have to worry about there are the loitering "gentlemen". Its quite pretty upstream too. Well worth an explore

Unfortunately, due to the change in ownership of this web site and the lack of response by the owners to my requests to remove my email address from all administrative-level notifications and functionality, I have decided to remove my posts on AKFF. Thank you for the great times, the fantastic learning experiences and the many many fish. Whilst snorkeling in Narabeen, my uncle told me about a 'drop off' where the shallow sandbar drops into 5m+ water - apparently, after swimming over the sand bar, you regularly look down onto massive schools of fish.

Stuffed if I know where he's talking about though. Next time I chat with him, I'll try and get him to divulge the location.

There is a big hole in the entrance channel (next to the caravan park) that you can stand next to and obviously cast into. Some big flathead have been pulled from it and its easy to berley up mullet and choppers

Hi Occy,

Was nice to catch up with you on the weekend. Unfortunately, the fish didnt co-operate with nary a strike but it was good to explore the lake. Froggy and my only experience there has been wading the Wakehurst Parkway side.

We were a bit hampered by the wind which got up to about 20+ knots Id say, so trying to find somewhere were we didnt have to have an express drift was a challenge. I saw a few dropoffs on the sounder as you mention into the 10-15 ft range - quite sudden in some spots. So some good structure there.

Lets hope next time is a bit more fruitful.

Cheers Doug
