hey guys,

thinking of heading down the tweed sun morning,
hopefully to chase some flathead etc,

just wondered what the most productive method is around there?
am i best off casting sps around weed beds, trolling hard bodies, trolling sps or drifting baits

any tips on this style of fishing or possible locations in the tweed are much apprecated

thanks guys

not sure about the tweed, but flatties usually respond well to a soft plastic (3" minnow or stickbait) bumped along the bottom on the drift. If theres patches of weed, cast over them and retrieve your sp just over the top of the weed to avoid snagging. flatties are ambush predators and the bait/lure needs to get within a few feet of them for them to react.

good luck

yep I'm with Dave, 3' pumpkin seed minnows on a small head have worked best for me. Can't speak for the Tweed but last couple of hours of the run out have given me best results.

Good luck with it mate

another angle... don't discount the effectiveness of the old metal spoons "Tobi" style lure in the 10/15 g size. With a slow retrieve just off the bottom to avoid any weed. Just as good today as they were 20 years ago.
