Got to the office at 4:30am this morning and got out in search of snapper and Poddy's monster. Sky is clear, wind N/E 5 knots and tide low. Not realy pinkie conditions but the fish are on fire.

Some good size pinkies up to 40cm on nearly every cast. Kept 5. Sent a red mullet out as a livey and instead of being walloped by a thresher it was mauled by a large arrow squid. The squid soon fell to my new landing net when it looked me square in the eye next to the yak and refused to let go of my bait. Sent out a jig after that and picked up another on the way home.

The long hous at work are killing me.

Cheers

Scott

Nice work Scott..

Good spot squidder... You're right, the calamari tastes at least 10 times better.

The way to tell the difference is the shape of it's "wings". The calamari has flaps that extend the length of it's body, the arrow squid has shorter flaps, and it looks more like an arrow!

I'm sooooo itching to get my hands on my yak... i'm already trying to work out how to kit it out... i wanna put a camera on it and film my adventures..
