Unfortunately, due to the change in ownership of this web site and the lack of response by the owners to my requests to remove my email address from all administrative-level notifications and functionality, I have decided to remove my posts on AKFF. I have heard the same thing about the deyless entry over the mobile phone but can't test it out.

I call my car (Dual Cab Hilux 4wd) 'Basic Barry' as it doesn't have climate control, carpet, velour interior, CD player or remote locking. It does however air conditioning. Can I turn that on with a mobile phone..... oh, what's the point???

hehe...

Cheers,

Milano.

*3370# improves sound quality (using EFR), but reduces battery life.
#3370# resets sound quality to normal.

If you were to dial #3370# and the sound quality was set to high, then it'll decrease audio quality, but might give you some extra battery time.
It doesnt magically recharge the phone or anything, it just puts it into low-quality audio mode. If the battery is flat, then its not going to help that much.

by dialing *3370# it sets it to high audio quality, which means more processing, which will shorten the battery time

Working in the industry I see these little tips pop up all the time, these 2 have been flaoting about for sometime, but as others have pointed out they are really unfounded.

Except maybe the first one, new technology is being worked on by a partneership between an extremely large Global Mobile Network and Handset Manufacturers. It will see the development of new features of mobile phones, bluetooth technology and various day to day items such as cars, ATM's, computers etc. In the way of turning the mobile in to a electronic wallet and set of keys.

Some of the high end cars particularly European ones give you the ability to intigrate certain brnads of mobiles into your car, so you can unlock them, link in and locate them via GPRS and GPS (handy if you have lent your expensive car to the kids for the night) and even to the point of having the heating system fire up before you get into the car.

It's currently working in a couple of small areas in Europe as test areas, but it will still be a couple of years before we really see it here in Australia. Personally I don't like the idea, the amount of people that have had their phone stolen or lost it everyday is enough to scare me off of having all my financial details in mine.

However there are presently vending machines in Australia that will charge a Coke or a Sweet Treat to your mobile phone account, once again still in small numbers but they are out there. If you are on the network that Little Johnny is about to sell off.
