Went out for a few hours this morning at dawn - launched from Balmoral and trolled around middle head and back into middle harbour in a large circle, completing the lengthy circuit about 3 times.

There was a lot of baitfish activity on the sounder and I had a large unknown hookup that unhooked itself from my trolled treble (probably a salmon or tailor by the fleeting glimse I got).

Managed to land nothing by line but speared two 35cm+ fish for dinner (luderick and wrasse) off the rocks at middle head. While I was diving I also saw the biggest bream I have ever seen in my life - I thought it was a snapper initially - until I noticed the colour. It looked huge (as most things do underwater) but it was probably around the 40-45cm mark on reflection. I didn't see any pelagics while diving - just the usuals - heaps of blackfish, a few bream and the odd whiting of just legal size (probably).

Funny how we have threads talking about how to get back on your Yak if you fall off accidently. When we have dudes on the site that fall off on purpose to go spearing. Maybe we should all have a pair of flippers in our gear bag ? A definate help to propel you out of the wet stuff.

Bulky but handy.

Just a thought.

Thanks for the report Deano.
