I really like fishing out of my minnow because it's enclosed. I fish a lot in the winter months in trout streams, go down rapids and the like and the water can be freezing. Being enclosed helps this. Does anyone know of any slightly bigger enclosed kayaks that could 1) be easily manouvered in small shallow waters, 2) also be used in open salt water? I am starting to like the look of some of the big outfits on the site. Just feel a bit uncomfortable having legs exposed for some reason. Mick.

Mick I hadn't seen one with a skirt before and can see how cosy the yak would get in cold conditions.

Know nothing about SIKs but the Perception Arcadia I've seen at Anaconda looks like it might be in the class you are after slightly larger and out of the same stable and always impresses when looking at the yak.

By the way a young uni student I met on the GC Seaway takes his Minnow offshore when bar and sea conditions suit ie:flat to calm and told me he has some success; he's only out 2 hours max so he can come in before the tide turns and lifts the bar

Unfortunately, due to the change in ownership of this web site and the lack of response by the owners to my requests to remove my email address from all administrative-level notifications and functionality, I have decided to remove my posts on AKFF. Thank you for the great times, the fantastic learning experiences and the many many fish. If you are desperate for the old content of this particular post, it is available below base64 encoded and bzip2 compressed.
