Geez I hate people who come up with bright ideas. I never bloody do!

I did find another trolly idea made from a boat trailer Bow V, a set of wheels and straps but had trouble getting the bow V big enough, so this is perfect (and even cheaper)

I know what I'm doing tomorrow......

Thanks mate.

Hi abitfishy

Your welcome. We all need to spread the knowledge around.

Have fun making the trolly. But make sure that hold the angle grinder with both hands. That way you get to keep all of your fingers on both hands :)

Is the frame on those cheap trolleys thin enough that a good hacksaw will do it? I'm no good with power tools......and have the scars to show it. :)
Hi abitfishy

The handles won't be problem but the plate is a bit thicker. I thought of doing it that way but then thought the angle grinder would be faster.

I think that it could be done with a hacksaw, it would just be harder and take a little to do. If I hadn't had the grinder I would have tried a hacksaw.

Here's my trolly that I whipped up today. :D
I destroyed one cutting disk utterly on the bottom plate alone, and did a good job of stuffing another one on the handle pipes. Good thing I had the safely goggles on.
I haven't found a way to attach the strap, but a preliminary test proved it not necessary. Works a treat. :D

Hi YakAtak

Looks good. They do work a treat don't they.

You must have been using the wrong type of disk. I used a new metal cutting disk and at the end of the job it still looked almost new. Are you sure you didn't use a 'grinding' disk instead of a 'cutting' one. Makes a big difference.

As for attaching the straps, one way you can do it is to fasten them on with self tapping screws and washers. Alternatively, you can just tie the straps on.

Let me know how you go.

Hey guys,

I bought a trolley today and went to at least attach the straps and see how its all goign to work and had an idea. On my kayak at least, as long as there is double height pool noodle to give space for the keel, I can leave the trolley in one piece and strap it to the bottom of the kayak - that way I also have a trolley if I need one...

I don't see why that wouldn't work. And as you say, you can still move furniture with it. Any chance of posting a pic with your yak on it?

Nice work, hows the clearance for the bow, Karl? Are you planning on storing it on the kayak when you launch?
