If you are going after any big pelagics, you will find the stock rod holders impractical. They point forward, to keep clear of the paddle, so a strike from a big fish makes it very difficult to remove the rod and very easy to remove the rod holder!
I would consider placing rod holders behind the seat and facing back and out for the bigger fish.
The best customisation I made to my tempo is to build a set of rod holders that I strap to the battery box. It is just four vertical holders screwed to a piece of timber, with a luggage strap adjusted to give a tight fit. See the attached pic. This is only for storing rods and the net, but means they are directly behind me at a little distance so are well out of the way when casting.
