And came accross a brochure for steel reinforced lockable tie downs, they are made by a brisbane company called Stick Protection Technology in Coorparoo. Unfortunately their website is down at the moment, but found this review on a surfing website. 8)

After looking at that link the through scupper snake from Bunnings that Troppo was talking about a while ago, runs ring around this system and also only $40 from memory

I have one of the Viper Snake Lock things from Bunnings which I picked up before our trip to Cairns.

The cable is made from braided steel and works a treat.

We used it by stacking both kayaks one on top of the other, threading it through the scuppers on each and back around the Camper Trailer.
I was a lot moreat ease when going away and leaving the yaks with the camper trailer knowing that short of some heavy duty bolt cutters my gear wasnt going anywhere
