Hi Guys,
Kris, (Crayman) and I hit Lenthall's again today.
We decided on an afternoon session, hopefully to target a couple of barra. We keep hearing reports that they are going off out there at the moment.
After getting some necessary supplies from the Torbo pub, we got to Lenthall's at about 1pm. As I pulled into to the car park, there was a crusty old bugger just about to head off home. After the usual g'days, I asked him how he went. he told be that he had got two barra and when I asked him what on, he replied "lures"  it was a good try anyway.
We headed up the south arm for a mile or so, punching into a fairly stiff breeze for zip. bloody hot, pulled into a shady, grasy bank for a liquid refreshment and then heak up a little side gutter. kriss trolling his trusty kokoda and me, a micro mullet and a SX 40.
I picked up a solid little bass at 38cms on the way out (micro mullet) and as we reached the mouth of this little gutter, the wind seemed like alltogether too much like hard work, so we headed back the way we came.
I was just cruisng along down wind when off went my little SX40. I got a little tow! with this one
Nice bass 42cm
Kriss was still not having any luck so he changed to a shiny new micro mullet and within 3 paddle strokes after setting the drag, was on! Loverly bass at 36cm.
To the bank,- more refreshment (twas a hot day afterall
) and also to put the fish on ice. one more bass and were were bagged out
Back on the water and slowly making our way towards where I had heard the barra specialists had been scoring and picked up a couple of small bass along the way.
I changed up to some heavier gear (6kg) as we approached the barra spot. got nada. Meanwhile Kris had been quietly busy and landed a 41cm bass(a PB) bloody well done mate
To the bank, more refreshments, put fish on ice and now we were totally bagged out on bass
My big lures weren't working for me so I changed down a bit to a mad Mullet 2.5". the day was getting on a bit so we opted for a leasurely paddle back toward the cars. Kris picked up a couple more solid bass around 40cm which were released and I got one small one.
I had one hookup on the Mad mullet on the way back and dropped a barra at around 60 to70cm beside the boat - bugger.
All up for the afternoon, twelve bass were landed. Kriss got seven - well done mate and I got five. Four of these were over 40cms, five or six were over 35cm and two or three were around 30cms. Eleven of the twelve were taken on micro mullet and one on a SX40
Final note, as we were loading the cars, kriss took the empties over to a bin and sitting right on top of the rubbish, still pretty fresh, were 4 barra skeletons at between about 60 to 85cms
