Had to get up to the dam again to try the new spinnerbaits, didn't get there till 5am (mental note, check petrol the day before  ) but the view on arrival was pretty special. :D

Headed out to the deep water and trolled one of the new spinnerbaits towards the bay, but not a touch, wandered all over the place, changed lures a few times, but only managed one yella on a beetlespin with a 3" pumpkinseed minnow grub. It went 45cms on the mat.

Was a very nice day on the water with some nice cloud cover to keep the temp down later in the morning. :D

Thanks Red, just lucky timing really, as I was loading the yak I looked up and thought, whoa, gotta get a pic of that. :p

Ben, this yella was in pretty shallow water along a very shallow bank the drops into maybe 5m of water tops, caught me by surprise and expected to get a bass here as I got one of the small ones there the other day.
Went back to the 'cod' hole, but no luck.

Another nice result Karl the yella looks lighter weight for its length, was that the case?

By the way while I was waving the drill around the swing on Monday I drilled out the existing side handles and replaced with 'Cirrus' style ones and much more compact now

Richo what are cirrus handels ?, any photos,? would be interested if more compact
Baz I just coined a word, Karl calls his yak Cirrus.

I had knocked up handles from 50mm webbing for my swing, but when doing Cirrus, used 25mm webbing about 150mm long with a 25mm stainless washer and webbing folded under at each end and I used split tail rivets to secure through washer.

The narrow webbing is as good as the wide stuff and not as bulky in the cockpit walls on the swing, we mounted Karls on his gunwales as this pic

Bob, yes mate, he was a light weight model for his length.

Re: handles, I still haven't fixed the problem with mine, two visits to bunnings and forgot to get the nuts and bolts, tried to re-rivet, but not gonna happen now that one has already pulled.
webbing size and position is perfect, just need a better way of securing them than the rivets. No problem getting a nut to the bolt, and it's high so not a leak risk at this stage. I'll get around to it eventually.

Karl if you have small washers handy slip one on over the rivet underneath the gunwale and you can rivet OK with an ordinary rivet as the load will spread across the damaged hole like a split tail.

Mine were split tails and incredible to see the tails when drilled out, I saved a couple for show and tell, doubt that one of them could pull
