Anyone just watch the ABC doco on the deaths of Bogle & Chandler. Seems the culprit was hydrogen sulphide (rotten egg gas) emitted from the Lane Cove River as a result of industrial and sewage pollution.
I saw it, yes it does seem to be a lot cleaner down there now. Just remember to scarper if the bubbles come. Homebush Bay at low tide on the other hand... I've been skating there fairly often and it gets pretty stinky at times. Real estate agents probably only show off the waterfront apartments at high tide. I bet there's plenty of (mutant) fish there though. Does anyone remember the smell of Rhodes (from the train) in the 70's?
