Got out on the Minamurra River this morning for a quick session chasing bream. Anchored near the rail bride throwing SP’s down current at the bridge pylon. Had one really good hook up but he headed straight under the pylon and busted me off, the joys of bream fishing.

On the way back, flicked a few SP’s in the shallows and managed a nice flatty. Also saw a couple of sting rays lazing about. Goes to show how stealthy the kayak is as I floated pretty much straight over them & they didn’t move.

Cheers

Well done mate,

Nice flattie, how big (apart from being obviously big) was he? Looks somewhat gigantic to me!

Andybear,

Not sure about the size but I would say north of 60cm (I put him back in as I've got a few fillets in the freezer). Certainly was a decent fight

Bazz,

In truth I have had more luck with the flatties than bream, the river is fairly shallow & seems better suited to flatties. That said, I have heard good reports of bream in the river & saw a couple of guys get a few yesterday. Let me know if you are down this way.
