Windy day on the NSW South Coast today so decided to try to find a sheltered spot in the local river. The main channel of the river was heavy going paddling straight into a 20kt southerly, but paddled further up the river & got protection from the tree lined shore & change of river direction.

Anchored on the edge of a drop off and threw a few SP's around resulting in 5-7 undersized flatty / bream etc. Was about to move on but thought â€Å"one last castâ€

Good one, Jeffo. Bit of strategy, finding a quiet area out of the wind. The creek looks pretty and ya had a few rod benders, even if not big ones. A nice day out despite the generally poor conditions.

Wow what a pretty little creek/river that is mate. Any camping opportunities up there. You could really spend a peaceful weekend up there. You could close your eyes and be anywhere you wanted to be.

The fish would be a bonus. Is that Minnamurra river ?

sure is Russ

The river runs along some farmland so not sure about pitching a tent. Kiama is changing a bit with camping grounds giving way to cabins (which is a bit disapointing) but still plenty of options.

Jeffo that's a pretty bit of territory you were paddling in, and a few fish [altough small] is a bonus.

Jeffo, the minnamurra is nice spot to chase fish.... there is a little creek toward the opening that holds some flatty's but low tide means you end up dragging the yak through spots but at least you wont have stink boats in there and you can get out of the wind.
