hey guys,

i did notice another post on how to store your yak, however it doesnt really address the swing in particlular with most attention paid to the esprit.

I was thinking of just putting some webbing loops underneath a shelf in the garage and hanging it in on the side, is this the best way???
also i have seen people mention never storing bottom down, why is this??

any help is much appreciated, i have to move it from where it is soon as its in the lounge room hehe

That's not a bad idea - webbing loops under a shelf.

Why not bottom down, because during heat the pastic may demform - and this will affect the tracking of the kayak. However not everyone finds this to be the case.

I made some racks - see DIY post, works ok.

Ben

Both my yaks are stored on their side on padded timber blocks with no problems.

The hire fleet at Currumbin are stored on their keels and underneath look like corrugated iron there are that many dents in them, if I had to lie one flat it would be deck down and keel upwards

i store mine bottom down on two timber racks which are hung above head height in my garage. On average the yak only sits on these for maximum a week before it gets used, so theres never been any hull impressions left.

Basically I've just bolted 2 x 90 degree steel brackets to the wall and then screwed some 600mm long lengths of 75x45mm pine to them. the yak sits on these.

sometimes it just gets left on the garage floor - if I know I'll be going out again in a few days I often dont lift it up onto the racks.

mate, they are pretty tough things, no ned to treat them like glass 8)

thanks for the tips guys,

this afternoon i picked up some webbing and side release clips,
attached them into reasonable lengths and hung them under a couple of shelves in the garage. Not the best setup but will do for a little while until we get setup

heres the pic
