Feathered paddles are usually indexed - there is a raised portion on one end of the shaft that gives a comfortable grip. That hand grips the paddle and twists it to give optimum attitude of the blades when stroking while the other hand simply provides power as required, so only loosely connects to the paddle. That's the theory anyway. Most paddles are indexed to the right hand. Despite being doggedly left-handed I accepted and have had no trouble using a right-handed paddle (but then I've never tried a left-handed one).Gatesy said:I have seen a left handed paddle. There is actually a difference that was explained to me when i purchased the P13
I would have thought it was a left handed hammer kind of thing but it appears i was wrong
I have two of 'em. Due to accident damage I have limited use of my right wrist so, although being right handed, have had paddles made up to be feathered by left hand. Try feathering with your other hand and you'll quickly see the difference.spooled1 said:Come to think of it I've never seen a left handed paddle either.... Hmmmm
