With all the talk about lately re trolling lures and all the success being had I felt the time has come to give it a go. Headed out to the shed and knocked up a couple of front trolling rod holders for the Hobie flushmounts. To get a real snug fit with the 32mm PVC just wrap a couple of winds of duct tape to the bottom of the rod holders. I will after a paint job. This will keep them from swivelling when they get a real big whack from a big fish. Time taken to make was 15 mins. 1 metre of 32mm pvc and 2 x 45 degree bends. So cheap I did`nt check the receipt! Note small cutout to take the trigger on overhead rod and reel seat of spin setup. Will also fit small bungy loops to keep rods in nice and secure. Steve.

Does the duct tape stop the holders from spinning towards the rear when a strike is registered? I just ask because i would hate to hear about your rod being pulled from the yak
Gatesy if there is access to the bottom of the flushmount a screw/bolt across the bottom of the flushmount would work, and than notch the drop in PVC where required like a notched rod butt used when trolling overhead reels.

All my early rod holders were homemade with just a 3/16" bolt as above
