Greetings one and all,

Just dropping in to say Hello and introduce myself to everyone, so Hello!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am Tassie based and as yet to buy my Yak, though I am looking at a few options including the Hobie Outfitter, but I will mention more about that in the other forum sections.

I have enjoyed reading the Forums while waiting for my activation (thanks Mods), I have particualrly enjoyed Bent's posts seeing how they are about my home turf. I am an ex-mainlander though I have been in Tassie for 19 years now many locals still refer to me as "that big fella from Queensland". I wonder at time how long it takes to be come a local?

I look forward to becoming part of the community, thanks again Mods.

My avatar to the left is my son about 7 months ago when he caught his frist Bream at just 3 years and 3 months old. We have a secret spot near Hobart where the smaller Bream hang out but there are a few monsters in our little creek as well. That one measured 30 cm at the fork and he was kept for the pan, he caught 3 other about the same length that day. A week later he also outfished me on the Huon River for Trout too, but that's another story, anyway he is the most amazing thing in my world. :D

Unfortunately, due to the change in ownership of this web site and the lack of response by the owners to my requests to remove my email address from all administrative-level notifications and functionality, I have decided to remove my posts on AKFF. Thank you for the great times, the fantastic learning experiences and the many many fish. If you are desperate for the old content of this particular post, it is available below base64 encoded and bzip2 compressed.

Greetings Blain,
and welcome. Great to hear you`re teaching your young son all the really important things early. I remember the first time my son outfished me on a brown trout fishing trip. He was about 10 and I was as proud as punch! Just one more thing I should have taught him, how to tie more knots!! Steve.

G'day Blaen

Good to have you join us on the forum its a great place for creating friendships, and the perfect place for anyone starting out in kayak fishing.

Also good to see the youngster getting interested at an early age, you have a lot of good things to treasure coming your way with your little mate

Gday and welcome Blaen, I moved to Flinders Island in march this year and found the locals are only the ones born on the island and all others are blowins.... we met one guy who has been here for 30 years and is still not a local   . I look forward to some reports from your way when you get a kayak
